Cyber Heaven

Oil on Canvas

In Cyber Heaven, an unexpected mix of objects dance across the canvas: legs and shoes bend, butterflies flutter, a cactus tilts, and fruit floats. Their otherwise volumetric forms are here sharpened as though pixelated forms, so that the curve of an apple and fleshiness of a watermelon share similar edges as the prickly cactus. In this proto-Cubist experiment with geometrical abstraction, Song simulates the nature of digital representation in oil paint: the reduction of images to units that can be repeated to generate different forms.
